A grab bag is an essential piece of safety equipment that can be the difference between death and survival. Buoyant and splash-proof, this grab bag offers a convenient way to store all your safety equipment ready for any emergency. Ideally, a grab bag should be stored in a robust, easily accessible location at an ambient temperature.
The RNLI state "You need to be able to survive until help arrives. A grab bag helps you do this and can make your stay in a life raft more bearable. It (the grab bag) should be kept somewhere accesible - as close to a companionway as possible without being in the way. If you hit something and your boat starts flooding, you might only hae minutes to get out."
Every grab bag should contain items for basic survival, such as food, drinking water and things that will warm you up, as well as kit that will help you get resuced like a radio, flares, torch and whistle. It's also important not to forget medical supplies such as a first kit and personal medication.
