A sea anchor is also known as a drift anchor, drift sock or boat brake. It is used to stabilize a craft in times of bad weather and in rough waters. As opposed to an anchor which tethers a vessel to the sea bed, a sea anchor increases the drag through the water. When attached to the stern of a boat, a sea anchor prevents the vessel from turning broadside to the waves and risking the possibility of being overwhelmed by them.
A drogue is a small sea anchor which stabilizes the craft and keeps the boat travelling true when tracking downwind. It will help to prevent the boat speeding down a wave and slows the boat for better control.
At Pirates Cave we are pleased to bring you the Lalizas Sea Anchor Drogue which is fashioned from robust coated PVC with continuous webbing inside for additional strength. The drogue is available in three sizes to suit boats up to 40 feet (12m) in length. Please be aware that the correct size of drogue will depend on the conditions you may encounter and the weight of your boat as well as its length. Please contact our friendly team if you require assistance in making your choice.
