ACR GlobalFix V6 Cat 2 EPIRB (Manual Release Bracket)

ACR's GlobalFix V6 Emergency Position Indicator Radio Beacon (EPIRB) uses 406 MHz satellite connectivity to transmit emergency signals to the global Cospas Sarsat satellite rescue system. The EPIRB accurately derives its position anywhere in the world using GNSS (GPS, Galileo, Glonass) positioning networks. When the EPIRB is activated, 406 MHz distress transmissions relay the GPS EPIRB (GPIRB) position (accurate within 100 metres) to the worldwide Cospas Sarsat search and rescue satellite network. EPIRB identifiers and position information is then relayed to ground stations through the satellite system, initiating rescue operations.

Position information and vessel identification are then relayed by satellites to ground stations, which helps decide the scope of the operation to be launched. Once the EPIRB is activated, a 121.5MHz signal is transmitted, in addition to the higher frequency satellite signal. The 121.5MHz signal aids rescuers in finding the device when they arrive at the scene, which is particularly important if the beacon has drifted from its original location. The EPIRB also emits both a visual and infrared strobe, helping rescuers pinpoint the beacon and speed up rescue operations.

Users can easily access ACR's FREE smartphone app, which provides EPIRB diagnostics. Simply place a smartphone adjacent to the GlobalFix V6 EPIRB and the ACR Product App will open. The app shows an array of data including current battery life of the beacon, the number of GNSS and self-tests completed, plus the amount of time the EPIRB has been activated. GNSS tests include a map view, demonstrating where previous tests were performed, the data and time of the tests, and how long it took the EPIRB to get a fix on the GNSS coordinates, the number of satellites used to obtain that fix, and the fix's accuracy. NFC allows users to routinely check the status of all EPIRB functions to ensure it is working properly and ready to go in case of an emergency.
