Hard Antifouling
Typically suited to powerboats and racing yachts, hard antifouling paint creates a smooth, hard, and durable surface on the underwater hull of a boat or ship. Hard antifouling paints are designed to prevent the attachment and growth of marine organisms, such as barnacles and algae, by using biocides that are released slowly over time.
Unlike self-polishing antifouling paints that wear away over time, hard antifouling paints are meant to remain in place for longer periods of time. They are generally more resistant to damage from abrasion, impact, and marine growth, and may require less frequent application than self-polishing antifouling paints.
However, hard antifouling paints can be more difficult to apply and require a more thorough surface preparation process before application. They may also require regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure that they remain effective in preventing marine fouling.
