Using the global Iridium satellite network, the inReach Mini 3 Plus allows you to stay in contact from almost anywhere in the world with an active satellite subscription. You can exchange detailed text messages of up to 1,600 characters directly from the device using the on-screen keyboard, or pair it with the Garmin Messenger app on your compatible smartphone to send messages, emojis, reactions and even participate in group chats. When connected to your phone, you can also share photos from your adventures and view received images directly on the device’s colour display.
The communicator also features a built-in speaker and microphone, allowing you to send short voice messages without needing mobile signal. Alternatively, you can use your paired smartphone to record a message through the Garmin Messenger app. Incoming voice messages can be automatically transcribed and displayed on the device screen, making them easy to read in any environment.
For added safety in remote areas, the inReach Mini 3 Plus includes an interactive SOS feature. In an emergency, you can trigger an SOS alert that sends your GPS coordinates directly to Garmin Response, a 24/7 staffed international emergency coordination centre. Because messages are transmitted through the Iridium satellite network rather than mobile towers, assistance can be requested even in the most isolated locations.
With an active subscription, you can also enable LiveTrack, allowing friends and family to follow your progress online while you travel. Your LiveTrack page shows key information including distance travelled, time and elevation. The built-in antenna automatically connects to satellites to maintain accurate location updates, even in wooded areas or challenging terrain.
When paired with the Garmin Explore smartphone app, the device becomes a powerful navigation companion. You can plan routes, track your journey and follow courses directly from your phone, while the TracBack feature allows you to retrace your route back to your starting point. An integrated compass also provides reliable bearings, even when you are standing still.
Designed for demanding environments, the inReach Mini 3 Plus is compact, durable and water-rated to IP67, making it suitable for use in harsh outdoor conditions. The 1.9-inch colour touchscreen provides a clear, responsive interface for navigating menus, reading messages and viewing photos. The internal rechargeable lithium battery delivers impressive performance for extended trips, providing up to 350 hours of operation with 10-minute tracking intervals and up to 95 hours in performance messaging mode. Additional features include weather forecasts for your planned destinations, voice command capability for hands-free operation, preset check-in messages that do not count toward your message allowance, and seamless switching between Wi-Fi, cellular connections and satellite messaging when paired with a smartphone.
