With boating season upon us, preparation is key when it comes to applying antifoul to your boats and vessels. Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to apply on top of an unknown antifoul you will need to use an antifoul primer before you get started.
In the event of incompatible or unknown antifoul being on the boat, if it’s in good condition, some antifoul primers can be used to go straight over the top, allowing for a fresh start.
However, if the existing antifoul is not in good condition, you will need to scrape this back before applying a fresh coat of primer, or risk the new coat of paint simply peeling off.
Antifoul paint is not likely to apply properly to the surface of the boat without applying an antifoul primer first, and so this is an application that really cannot be skipped.
We supply antifoul primers from all of the major brands, including Hempel, International and Seajet. If you’re not sure which product is right for your boat, get in touch with our friendly customer support team who will be glad to help point you in the right direction!
Once you have your primer applied, take a look at our range of Antifoul Paint for your next step.
