Victron Blue Smart battery charger has built-in bluetooth, so you can wirelessly monitor voltage and current, change settings and update the charger when new features become available. With up to 94% efficiency, Blue Smart chargers generate up to four times less heat in comparison to the industry standard. Plus, when the battery is fully charged, power consumption drops to just 0.5W, which is 5-10 times better than the industry standard. When in night or low mode, the output current is reduced to maximum 50% of the nominal output and the charger will be completely noiseless. Night mode automatically ends after 8 hours and low mode can be ended manually. Output current will reduce as the temperature increases up to 50C, but the Blue Smart Charger will not fail.
The Blue Smart charger features a microprocessor controlled 'adaptive' battery management that will automatically optimize the charging process relative to the way the battery is being used. Blue Smart's storage mode kicks in whenever the battery has not been subjected to discharge for 24 hours. In storage mode, float voltage is reduced to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to 'equalise' the battery. This prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulfation, a major cause of early battery failure. BlueSmart also charges Li-ion (LifePo) batteries. LifePo batteries are charged with a simple bulk - absorption - float algorithm. There are eleven LEDs for status indication.
