As with general boat maintenance - it's highly recommended that you regularly maintain your marine engine in order to keep any expensive repair bills to a minimum. Whether this is by changing your marine oil and spark plugs when required, or replacing your control cables.

Outboard Motors:

We stock a leading range of outboard motors, both petrol and electric. Mercury outboard engines are the marine engine of choice for the RNLI, owing to their exceptional reliability and performance. Our most popular Mercury outboard is the 4-Stroke 3.5hp Short Shaft Outboard Engine, but we can supply outboards up to 6hp.

Cars with electric motors have rapidly risen in popularity over the past decade, and it's the same in the marine industry too. Electric outboard motors are more popular than ever before, and with brands like ePropulsion Outboard Motors producing superb engines such as the ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 1kW (3hp) Electric Outboard Motor, it's not hard to see why.

The electric outboard weighs just 20kg (including the battery), with a single charge providing a maximum range of 22 miles. As the outboard motor is so lightweight, it's super-easy to transport.

There's also the option to upgrade to the Spirit Evo model. Spirit Evo features a world first - hydrogeneration. This enables the ePropulsion motor to charge its own battery when wind is being used to propel the inflatable dinghy or boat. Water spins the propeller which in turn spins the motor, putting electricity back into the battery, so you can get more range out of a single charge.
