Torqeedo's Travel 603 Electric Outboard Motor does everything that a 2hp petrol outboard engine can, but is quieter, lighter, more environmentally friendly and more convenient. This new model uses the whisper quiet, direct-drive technology of Torqeedo's best-selling 1103 model, in a lighter, more affordable package. The electric outboard engine is clear, convenient and makes motoring easy.
Unlike a petrol powered outboard, the throttle response is instananeous, with solar charging available if you're ever running low on power. The amount of power you have left is visible on the electric outboard engine's onboard computer, complete with GPS based range calculation and charger.
For a displacement boat making its way through the water, the required propulsive power increases in proportion to the cube of the speed. So if you want to double your speed, you need eight times as much power. However, this works both ways so a small reduction in speed is enough to increase the achievable range substantially. A range guide can be found below.
Torqeedo Travel's on-board computer calculates the remaining range constantly by linking the motor's consumption data with the charging level of the batteries and the speed over the ground of the GPS. This allows you to read the remaining range in real time from the motor display, or Torqeedo's TorqTrac smartphone app.
